PETALING JAYA, Feb 13 – The 7C Life Centre here will be marking this year’s Maha Shivaratiri with a grand do starting this Saturday, Feb 18, from 5pm to Sunday, Feb 19, 6.00 am.
In a recent press statement, a spokesperson for the Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) said various activities have been lined up to celebrate the day, which is dedicated to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva.
During the Maha Shivaratiri, devotees of Lord Shiva will observe an entire night without sleep, keeping themselves conscious and awake with meditation or joining in Thevaram or Bhajans (devotional songs) as well as enjoying live performances like the classical dances of Bharata Natyam and Odissi.
“All are invited to this event, as we have a larger space at the ashram this year,” the spokesperson said, adding that there will be also musical performances.
Describing further on the significance of the Maha Shivarathiri, she said: “It is an auspicious celebration that allows us to reconnect to the spiritual element of the Universe. It is a great moment when the five elements of our world (earth, wind, fire, water, and air), converge and create an alignment to the Universal energies, giving us a moment of great enlightenment.”
The venue to jointly welcome this year’s Maha Shivarathiri, which is being jointly organised by 7C and Lotus, will be held at: Geeta Ashram Malaysia, Lorong Utara (B), Seksyen 52, Petaling Jaya. For details on booking Ubhayam Prayers and Annathaanam (food sponsoring), please call: 012 6017771.
