India celebrates successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23: India today saw the successful soft landing of the Chandrayaan-3 on the south polar region of the moon. It is the country’s third and most recent lunar exploration mission under the Chandrayaan programme of the Indian Space Research Organisation, Department of Space.

The landing was streamed live by ISRO through its website.

Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who celebrated the event, congratulated the ISRO team for their dedication.
