KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24: Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) Chairman Dr. Michael Jeyakumar, who was released along with three others arrested earlier today, is appealing to the authorities to leave alone land areas where agriculture and farming activities are being carried out.
Food security will be a major issue and preventing the conversion of these lands into other uses should be avoided, he told local media after his release from the police headquarters in Ipoh this evening.
The three others detained were PSM central committee member M Karthiges, Perak PSM Youth member P Kesavan and a farmer, Ho Pon Tien.
All of them were arrested for obstrucing state government officials from clearing the farmland which had been worked on for years.
