SHAH ALAM, Oct 27: The pro-tem secretary general of Green Party, Abdul Razak Ismail, says he will continue to pose questions on the Selangor Government’s free general insurance scheme or INSAN.
There have been no leads or results so far from the investigations carried out into the scheme by the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) after complaints had been lodged on the possible misuse of personal data.
Speaking to Weekly Echo, Razak said there were now plans to lodge a report either to the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, alleging that there were no real reasons why the department should delay announcing the findings into the scheme.
“It has been three months since the investigation began. Why is there a delay in announcing the results.
“Is it that difficult to trace the movement of the data from one party to another. We are talking about the data of 6 million Selangor citizens.”
The INSAN free insurance scheme from the state has been riddled with several allegations including the possible misuse of the data of Selangor people without their permission.
According to Razak’s claim, the data was taken by the state from the Election Commission, after which it had been passed to two insurance companies.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in August had refuted the claims, saying the people’s personal data had not been misused.
He said the state government obtained permissible public data from the Election Commission which was only used to pre-register potential recipients for insurance coverage.
