PETALING JAYA, Jan 16: The third edition of the Malaysian Indian Creative Awards (MICA Awards) which aims to honour and recognise excellence in Malaysian Indian creative industry will be held at the HGH Convention Centre in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 1.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder of MICA Awards, RG Naidu, said that the organisation has received nominations from 10 local Indian theatrical films competing for various awards, and encouraged producers of such movies to submit more nominations for consideration.
“A total of 45 awards will be presented in different categories. This event promises to elevate the standards of the Malaysian Indian Creative Industry,” he said during a press conference held in Petaling Jaya today.
The event was graced by the CEO of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, Member of Parliament for Segamat, R. Yuneswaran, and several other local Indian celebrities.
Naidu highlighted that the winners of MICA, supported by the Ministry of Communications and FINAS, are chosen by an independent jury appointed by the organisers. Additionally, the ‘Most Popular Awards’ category will be determined through public voting.
The other contested categories include movie awards, lifetime achievement awards and MICA special awards.
