Ratan Tata Was A Huge Supporter Of The Arts – Former Secretary of TFA

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10: Renowned Indian industrialist Ratan Tata who died on Wednesday, Oct 9, was a huge supporter of the arts, said former secretary of the Temple of Fine Arts, Ramachandran Subrahmanyam.

He truly believed in supporting the arts, and made it possible for the TFA to stage the Visva Vinayaka show at the prestigious National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Bombay on the 4th of January, 2004, recalled Chandra.

His death is a great loss not only to the world and India and industries but also to the world of arts, he said.

“It was Ratan Tata who made the entire show possible as the main sponsor. His unwavering belief in the arts and the mission of the Temple of Fine Arts was reflected not only in his generous support but in the deep connection he shared with our values. Ratan Tata’s contributions go beyond measure – his patronage allowed us to spread the beauty of art, culture, and spirituality to a wider audience, and his legacy continues to inspire us to this day.

“Towards the end of the show, in a moment that touched everyone’s hearts, Ratan Tata prostrated to Swamiji (the founder of TFA, Swami Shantanand Saraswati), a gesture that reflected profound humility and reverence.”

Chandra who was at the sound room during the 2004 show in Mumbai, said: “As we remember his passing, let us also celebrate the lasting impact he had on our journey and his dedication to uplifting and enriching lives through the arts.”
