KUALA LUMPUR, April 1: Senior officials from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) will speak at a business forum organised by the Economic Bureau of Persatuan Hainan Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan here on April 9.
The event will be held at the association’s convention hall at Robson Heights as part of the economic bureau’s efforts to assist the business community to be aware of the government’s latest economic and industrialisation programmes. Admission is free.
Besides the MATRADE and SIDEC officials, there will also be presentations by bankers, digital media practitioners and entrepreneurs to provide greater clarity and awareness on the current business potential and support & financing facilities for businesses.
An economic bureau spokesman said as Malaysia is fast emerging as an ideal location for foreign direct investments (FDI) in trading, information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI), the association’s economic bureau felt that the forum will be useful for entrepreneurs and professional bodies to be aware of various facilities and support programmes provided by the government at both the federal and state levels.
These include eCommerce on-boarding grants with social media trading platforms and digitalisation/AI adoption grants besides financing facilities by banking institutions, he said.
MATRADE’s Deputy CEO (Export Development), Encik Mansor Wahid, will officiate at the forum from 9.00 am.
This will be followed by presentations from other speakers. They include Shahrulmiza Zakaria, Deputy Director, Marketing Development, MATRADE; Loo Chuan Boon, Chief Operating Officer, SIDEC; Stephen Chan Kah Chun, Head, Strategic Alliance, Business Banking, UOB Malaysia; Puteri Nur Najwa, Sales & Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific, PAYMATE (B2B payment automation company); JS Lim, Managing Director, EITA Resources Bhd (Malaysia’s home-grown elevator company); and Elton Kuah, Founder, Enrich Social Media (B2B digital marketing company).
A networking session and Hari Raya reception will be held after the forum.
