SUBANG JAYA, April 10: As of today, a total of 301 houses, from 437 checked for structural safety and occupancy following the Putra Heights gas link fire 10 days ago, have been declared fit for owners to return, carry out repairs, said Selangor Police Chief Hussein Omar Khan.

He said the Works Department had undertaken a standard safety inspection exercise on these houses as well as the more advanced Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) tests and that the results were consistent with the standard tests.

“Occupants from 190 houses have also returned to their houses,” he added.

He said cleaning up the affected areas, including roads and public areas, except for the areas closer to ground zero and where work is still ongoing to stabilise the land, have already started.

The Subang Jaya City Council will also undertake a major gotong royong this Saturday, April 12, together with other agencies as well as non governmental organisations, Hussein said.

He also requested the NGOs wanting to volunteer to register ahead as access to parts of the area, especially closer to Ground Zero, remained restricted to ensure both the safety of everyone and the integrity of any post-event investigation to be done.
