PETALING JAYA, Nov 10 – Effective today, another 40 more feeder buses will be added to the 83 buses already serving those affected by the disruption in the Kelana Jaya LRT service.
In a press release Wednesday, My Rapid said the additional buses were sourced through cooperation with Smart Selangor and Mara Liner, both of which will offer 20 buses each operated by them.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad on Tuesday had shut down 16 LRT stations along the Kelana Jaya line due to a malfunction in the automatic train control (ATC) system which was first detected on Saturday, Nov 6.
Those affected by the temporary stop in the train service, which is expected to resume only on Nov 15, have been advised to continue their journey using free feeder bus services being made available at the train stations where their train service will terminate for now.
The buses will provide direct service between the Ara Damansara LRT station and Pasar Seni LRT station, as well as between Ara Damansara LRT station and Kelana Jaya LRT station.
Passengers can also take feeder buses that will stop at every station on the Kelana Jaya LRT route from Kelana Jaya to Pasar Seni. Feeder buses will also cover the stations from Pasar Seni to the Masjid Jamek station and from Masjid Jamek to Dato’ Keramat station. The frequency of the feeder buses will be from 15 to 20 minutes.
At a press conference earlier Wednesday, Prasarana’s president and group chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said the cause of the malfunction had yet to be identified and that the train service had to be stopped for the safety of passengers.
The RapidKL team is currently being assisted by the original equipment manufacturer’s experts to resolve the problem, he said.
He also said the Kelana Jaya LRT line had been operating close to 25 years and that RM150 million had been approved for the first phase of its upgrade including the trains and systems.
