KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is on his first visit to Indonesia after becoming Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister received a warm welcome this morning from Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo or Jokowi at the Presidential Palace of Bogor in West Java this morning.
Anwar posted the information on his meeting with Jokowi in his Facebook today.
The prime minister and his delegation were given a red carpet welcome while Anwar was honoured with a gun salute and later, along with Jokowi, inspected the guard of honour mounted by the presidential security force.
Anwar was later introduced to Indonesia’s Cabinet Ministers and this was followed by the planting of a merawan type tree (‘hopea odorata’) ceremony in the backyard of the Palace.
The two leaders who had discussions on issues concerning both countries, also witnessed the submission of 11 Letters of Intent (LoI) from 10 Malaysian companies towards the development of Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara.
The LoLs were handed over by the Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IKN Nusantara, Bambang Susantono.
Among others at the event were Foreign Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amiruddin Shari.
