AITEX and World Islamic Tourism Awards 2024 poised to be a landmark gathering for the global Islamic tourism industry

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 — The Asia Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (AITEX) and the World Islamic Tourism Awards 2024 organised by the Malaysia Tourism Agency Association (MATA) from August 23 to 26 at Sunway Resort Hotel, Bandar Sunway is poised to be a landmark gathering for the global Islamic tourism and trade sectors.

MATA President, Datuk Dr. Mohd. Khalid Harun said, AITEX will feature an expansive exhibition covering over 3,000 sqm of space, showcasing a diverse range of sectors including tourism, Islamic jewellery, and Islamic finance.

“Exhibitors from countries such as Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Thailand, Indonesia, Iraq, Turkiye, Brunei, China and Saudi Arabia will be present.  So will local exhibitors from Langkawi, Pahang, Perlis and Selangor providing a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural and economic offerings of these regions.

“The key highlights will include exhibitions that will showcase the best in Islamic tourism, jewellery, and finance from a diverse range of countries.  We shall also have the Islamic Tourism Conference themed Embracing Diversity: The Promise and Potential of Islamic Tourism featuring 15 speakers over two days, who will share their insights and expertise on the evolving landscape of Islamic tourism,” he said at the event pre-launch. 

He said on August 25th, the Ministers and CEOs Summit and Tourism Investment Asia will bring together top ministers and CEOs to discuss and explore critical investment opportunities in Asia’s tourism sector, making it an essential forum for shaping the future of tourism in the region.

“The grand finale of AITEX will be the World Islamic Tourism Awards 2024, celebrating excellence and innovation in the Islamic tourism industry. These awards aim to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions across various categories, including Best Islamic Tourism Destination, Best Islamic Hotel/Resort, Innovation in Islamic Tourism, Best Halal Culinary Experience, and Outstanding Contribution to Islamic Tourism.”

Mohd Khalid who is also Chairman of AITEX 2024 said AITEX and the World Islamic Tourism Awards 2024 promise to be a landmark event in the global tourism calendar, driving innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth within the Islamic tourism industry.
