KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 – The Unity Government agreement signed on Friday will not only ensure that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government lasts for five years and provide political stability for the country, but it will be the basis for Malaysia to stop its national decline and become a world-class nation again, says DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.

Congratulating Anwar for the unity government agreement, signed by political coalitions, political parties and individual MPs, Kit Siang said it will provide a reset for nation-building policies and a return to the nation-building principles as advocated by the first four UMNO Presidents and nation’s founding fathers like Onn Jaafar, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Razak Hussein, Hussein Onn, Tan Cheng Lock, Tan Siew Sin, Dr. Lim Chong Eu, and V.T. Sambanthan.

“Let the unity government agreement be an inspiration for  every patriotic Malaysian, every political coalition and every political party, inside and outside Parliament, to work with one common mission and purpose – to make Malaysia great again.”

Kit Siang, 81, who clocked 15,000 km in travel during the last general election, was one of the most hardworking campaigners for the PH party and played an active and key role in advocating Anwar’s ascension as the prime minister of the country.

In the statement today, he said Malaysia was capable of rising again as an economic tiger.

“This is work not of one Prime Minister or in one general election as it must be the mission of many Prime Ministers and many general elections, as it must be the Malaysian Dream of every Malaysian for the next three to four decades.

“But let Malaysia start now under the leadership of the country’s 10th Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim to begin the long process to make Malaysia great again.”

Kit Siang expressed confidence of Malaysia’s rise as a world-class nation where there is minimal corruption, world-class education standards, sustainable environment.
