Be a NAPEI member, private educational institutions urged

PETALING JAYA, Dec 4: Private educational institutions registered with the Ministry of Higher Education should become members of the National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI), said Prof. Datuk Dr. Azlinda Azman, the Director-General of Higher Education in the Ministry of Higher Education.

By joining NAPEI, they would help strengthen NAPEI’s  representation and ensure a unified voice for policy-making and industry discussions, she said in her speech when representing the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, at NAPEI’s 37th anniversary celebrations here recently.

In her remarks, Dr. Azlinda reaffirmed the Higher Education Ministry’s commitment to the private education sector as a key partner in Malaysia’s education landscape.

She also emphasised the importance of collaboration, future-ready education, and the need for graduates to be equipped with critical thinking skills, adaptability, and a global mindset in the era of Industry 4.0.

More than 240 private education industry leaders, stakeholders and representatives attended Malam NAPEI, which underscored NAPEI’s pivotal role in fostering innovation, inclusivity and excellence in private education.

The theme for the event was “The Symphony of Minds: The Collaboration and Integration of the Private Education Industry,” which emphasised the importance of unity to address global challenges and elevate the standards of education in Malaysia.

Another key feature of the event was the presentation of the NAPEI Excellence Awards 2024 in which NAPEI President Assoc. Prof. Elajsolan Mohan described the accolades as a testament of the dedication and perseverance of institutions that continued to set benchmarks for excellence in education as well as celebrating the collective spirit of innovation that defined the country’s private education sector.

NAPEI views that the country’s private education sector continues to be a driving force in complementing the public education system, enhancing accessibility, diversity and quality while it remains steadfast in its mission to advocate for the sector and foster partnerships that align with global trends and local needs.
