Blackmores gets Jakim’s halal cert – the first Australian finished good to achieve the milestone

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12: Blackmores Malaysia today marked its achievement of the Jakim Halal Certification, making it the first Australian-manufactured finished goods brand to attain the certification.

An an event here today, where the company officially received the certification, Country Manager of Blackmores Malaysia & Singapore, Kumaran Chandrasergaran said the Halal certification would not be just about compliance.

“It’s a commitment to transparency, ethical sourcing, and integrity in every aspect of our business—from ingredients to packaging,” he said, adding that the certification reinforced the company’s committment to providing high-quality, ethical products that cater not only to the Muslim community but to all consumers as well.

“Achieving Halal certification is a significant step in reinforcing consumer trust. For our Muslim customers, it ensures they are consuming products that align with their values. For all consumers, it’s a promise of the quality and safety Blackmores has been known for.”

Kumaran said with the increasing demand for Halal-certified products in Malaysia, this certification also represented an exciting growth opportunity for the company.

Also present at today’s event were Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Danielle Heinecke and Mohd Dhaliff Ghaus Mohd Anuar, Head of Halal Consultancy & Advisory from Halal Development Corporation Berhad, who presented the certificate to Kumaran.

“This milestone reflects the strength of the Australia-Malaysia relationship, showcasing how Australian innovation and commitment to quality align with Malaysia’s values and standards,” said Danielle Heinecke.

It is also reflective of the growing partnership between our nations, benefiting both businesses and consumers alike, the High Commissioner added.

To a question on how the company safeguarded its products in the market amid so many fake healthcare and nutrition based products that are easily available, Kumaran said the company’s hologram sticker ensured the genuineness of its products.
