PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29: Data from the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) of the ill-fated light aircraft that crashed on a highway in the township of Elmina, Shah Alam has been successfully retrieved in a laboratory in Florida and returned to the authorities in Malaysia, where it will be analysed, said Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
A preliminary report from the analysis is expected to be released in two weeks time, the Malay Mail reported the minister saying at a press conference here today.
“I can assure you the data is intact and we have successfully downloaded all the data especially the last 30 minutes right up till it crashed. The data has been sent to our investigative team in Kuala Lumpur through a safety mail system. Meaning we already have all the data here.”
The Beechcraft 390 Premier 1 aircraft flying from Langkawi to Subang crashed onto the Guthrie Highway at about 2.50pm on August 17, killing all eight people onboard, and two motorists on ground.
The Malaysian Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating the crash.
