“Give Them Hope” Tiny Art Gala Charity Art Exhibition aims to be Malaysia’s biggest art show on Nov 16 & 17

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6: The “Give Them Hope” Tiny Art Gala Charity Art Exhibition, at the Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara on Nov 16 and 17 hopes to stamp its mark on the Malaysian art scene: to be the biggest art exhibition in Malaysia featuring some 15,000 pieces of art from 500 artists!

Its organisers hope to achieve this by displaying small pieces of art measuring 10cm by 10 cm each under the sub-theme of “Little Hands, Big Hearts: Tiny Art for a Big Cause!”

Initiated by the Malaysia Filial Piety Culture Foundation (FPC Foundation) and PNM Malaysia (Pertubuhan Nilai-Nilai Murni Untuk Keamanan Sejagat), it is co-organised with several institutions like Sunway College University and Stylo Fashion Design Technology Hub.

Through the power of art, the event aims to spread love, positive energy and inspire joy and support orphanages and other charity-based beneficiaries of World Vision Malaysia, says the chief organiser, Shiyu Serah, an artist herself.

Part of the proceeds from the exhibition and art sales will go towards improving the daily needs and living conditions of under-privileged children.

Latest data from Orphan-Care Foundation Malaysia, estimates that there are some 64,000 orphans and inmates of orphanages nationwide with many of them not really parentless.

The “Give Them Hope” 10×10 cm charity event will not only display artworks from numerous artists but also features art-related booths and various cultural exchange and cooperation projects, fostering cultural and artistic interactions, says Shiyu.

She adds that the exhibition will be suitable for students as the costs involved will be minimal as the materials for the 10cm x 10cm art pieces are affordable and easily obtainable.

“We intend to provide an affordable platform for them to display and sell their art pieces to visitors as not-yet established artists may find it hard to stage exhibitions in art galleries,” she explains.

In contributing towards a good cause that brings hope and smiles to children in need, Shiyu says every artwork sold will help to fund the “Give Them Hope” project and make a tangible difference in the lives of orphans.

She says Tropicana Gardens Mall has been chosen as the venue because of two major reasons: it has a big exhibition space and is easily accessible by MRT.
