NILAI, June 24 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said the government will deploy all its machineries to bring an end to hardcore poverty in the country by this year.

The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and its agencies will be activated to ensure this, while efforts are taken to bring people out of poverty, and improving public infrastructures and facilities in clinics, schools and business lots, the prime minister said at the launch of the Sentuhan Kasih Desa here today.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Defense Minister Datu Seri Mohamad Hasan and Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun were also present at the event.

In his speech, Anwar also called on those responsible for development to look at not only big and mega projects but help for the less privileged categories.

He also urged all parties not to let the political differences between them become a weapon of enmity to the point that so many inaccurate and false statements are made, especially in the social media, that gives a wrong picture of the government’s efforts to help the people.

The public must also take responsibility in disseminating information and not spread any false statements in order to guard the country’s harmony.
