King: Unity Key To Malaysia’s Stability, Prosperity

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31: Malaysia’s King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in his Merdeka message today, called on Malaysians to remain united, urging them to remember how more than six decades ago the spirit of nationalism and love of the motherland had united the people with determination and discipline until the desired independence became a reality.

As Malaysia celebrated its 66th year of independence today, His Majesty and the Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah expressed their greetings to all Malaysians in this country and those abroad.

Their Majesties both also expressed their gratitude to the Almighty, with the all the people of Malaysia being able to celebrate the country’s National Day, with its theme “Malaysia Madani: Determination of Unity, Full of Hope”, in an atmosphere of harmony and peace.

In the King’s message, which was posted on Istana Negara’s Facebook, His Majesty expressed his view that the unity between the multiple races in the country was the main key to the harmony and well-being of the people and the country.

“In fact, the integrity of this unity is also the key to the stability and prosperity of the country and the seed and source of strength for us to face any current and future challenges.”

The King also called on the people to appreciate and value the services of the leaders, fighters and patriots of the country’s independence who had nurtured the unity of the people, as well as members of the security forces who defend the sovereignty of the country.

Hence, it is the responsibility of leaders and the citizens to not only preserve and strengthen the harmony and unity that has been achieved all this time, but to further spread it.

Their Majesties also invited all the people to pray for Malaysia to continue to be blessed with prosperity, and unity that lasts and to be protected from any form of disaster or calamity.
