Malaysians keen to study in Japan invited to apply for Japanese government scholarships

KUALA LUMPUR, March 7: Malaysian nationals keen to pursue their studies in Japan have been invited to apply for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarships for the academic year 2025, which is open now for application.

Announcing this in a press statement today, the Japanese Embassy said students can apply for these scholarships under four categories.

During the term of the scholarship, monthly allowances of approximately 117,000 yen (approx RM4,000) will be given to undergraduate, college of technology and specialized training college grantee and
143,000 yen (approx RM5,000) to postgraduate grantee (amount subject to change).

It said fees for entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be exempted while a round-trip airplane ticket will be also provided for successful applicants.

The scholarships will be given under four categories, namely undergraduate (5 ~ 7 years bachelor degree course from April 2025) for which applicants must be between 18 and 25 years of age of 1st April 2025, four-year diploma course, also from April 2025 in the College of Technology (KOSEN), 3-year diploma course in specialised training colleges and postgraduate courses beginning April or October 2025.

The statement said applicants who are civil servants must apply through the Public Service Department of

Application due date for the undergraduate, college of technology and specialized training college
is on 5 April 2024 (Friday), before 4:00pm. For postgraduate, due date is on 19 April 2024 (Friday),
before 4.00pm.

Application forms and guidelines can be printed out from the Embassy of Japan’s website
