PETALING JAYA, April 17: MDC Training and Management Services will be organising a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) workshop here this coming May as part of its efforts to create awareness and equipping people with some basic understanding of how they can help those facing mental wellbeing issues.
“Whether at work, home and other places, those who are trained on mental health “first aid”, will be able to help or at least have some basic understanding of those struggling with mental issues. They will also learn how to spot those with any potential suicidal tendencies and offer some sort of support, before professional help arrives,” said Mala Davi, CEO and Founder of MDC Training.
“Amid the growing issue of mental stress among young workers, as well as others, it to important to build mental health literacy in our communities. This internationally accredited program equips the participants to respond with empathy, confidence, and care in a given situation.
“Whether you’re an educator, HR professional, leader, or caregiver, the workshop will be highly useful in assuring access to be better first aid support to mental health,” she said.
Participants at the workshop will learn how to recognise early signs of mental health challenges, skills to respond confidently in a crisis, ways to support someone with empathy and care and steps to connect to professional help.
Special rates will also offered to educators, NGOs, and caregivers attending the workshop, which is HRDC claimable, Mala said.
