KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21: The Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MET Malaysia) today issued a warning of continued heavy rains, flood possibilities in four states till Nov 24, namely Kedah, Perak, Pulau Pinang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang due to the north east monsoon.
A statement issued by the Director General of MET Malaysia said that based on an analysis of weather models, monsoon wind accumulation is expected to occur in the eastern and northern peninsula until November 24.
These conditions could cause increased humidity that could potentially bring continuous rainfall in the affected areas. At the same time, strong winds and rough seas are also expected in the South China Sea.
The other states are also expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rains, it said, urging people to take precautions and stay in touch with the latest information or development of the weather in their respective areas.
