Mitra committee has not met for months, mismanaged – Ganabatirau

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15: The recent announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the help for the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) was highly welcomed and reflected the care of the prime minister, said Member of Parliament for Klang, Ganabatirau Veraman, today.

The amount of RM100 million allocated for Mitra under the 2023 Budget was 0.001 percent of the development allocation of RM99 billion, but even this amount has yet to managed properly, the MP said during his debate on the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan tabled by the prime minister early this week.

“I am a member of the (Mitra) committee. But we have not met for months. And there have been no answers to any calls made with regards to the matter,” he said.

This matter has to be given attention, he went on to say, despite a brief interruption from Member Parliament of Besut Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh, who said he was confused by the matter and that it was not within the meeting order and that it was an internal matter.

Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul put the house back in order by pointing out that there was no confusion.

Ganabatirau reiterated that Mitra was being mismanaged and that it must be resolved.
