KUALA LUMPUR, March 31: Following a month of fasting during Ramadan, many Muslims around the country made it a point to welcome the first day of Syawal or Hari Raya with their families.

For Mohd Faizal Zainudin from Kampung Sungai Besar in Alor Setar, Kedah, it was once again a trip back home from Petaling Jaya, where he works.

“I was back home earlier, to join the break fasting events with my parents as well as my wife and three children.”

Faizal also took to enjoying his time out with his family, amid a clear, sunny day.

Visiting friends for most of them will be during the second daya of Hari Raya.

For Noor Shida Ismail from Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, it was once again an annual gathering of all family members and siblings and friends.

“We will have our usual open house and our guests will include our neighbours around our place. This year the theme is Batek Kebaya. We just want everyone to have good food and enjoy themselves,” Shida, who is a lawyer by profession, said.
