SEREMBAN, Feb 9 (Bernama) — The Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme in Negeri Sembilan recorded RM51.2 million in total sales last year, marking a significant jump from RM12 million in the previous year.
State Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Climate Change, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman, S. Veerapan said the sales were generated through 880 programmes through 47 series, comprising 582 in-store sales, 238 mobile sales, and 60 open/premium sales.
“In 2024, the government allocated RM11.4 million for the programme, benefiting over one million residents in Negeri Sembilan, with sales figures showing a significant increase.
“We aim to double the sales value this year in line with the increased allocation for the Rahmah Sales Programme,” he told reporters after officiating the Mini Rahmah MADANI Sales Carnival : Back to School Edition, which was also attended by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Negeri Sembilan director, Muhammad Zahir Mazlan, here today.
Veerapan added that the surge in sales reflects the strong support from various stakeholders, including industry players, contributing to efforts to ease cost of living burden on the people.
Commenting on today’s programme, he said the event offers school uniforms and supplies at discounts of up to 30 per cent compared to current market prices, with the participation of 21 supermarkets and outlets across the state.
He noted that the estimated allocation for the programme exceeds RM3.3 million, benefiting nearly 200,000 students in Negeri Sembilan.
Meanwhile, a trader, Mohd Firdaus Ahmad Hussain, 38, said such initiatives should be held annually to support less privileged parents in purchasing school essentials at more affordable prices.
“I usually allocate RM500 for my two children’s school supplies, so events like this help me save money. Normally, a school uniform costs around RM80-90 per set, but here, I can get it for almost half the price,” he said.
