KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24: A coalition of non governmental organisations today handed over a memorandum to Parliament underlining their disappointment over incidents of animal abuse by personnel from local town councils in various states.

The memo was handed over to Kampar’s Member of Parliament Chong Zhemin by the founder and president of Global Human Rights Federation, Shashi Kumar during a protest participated by the NGOs and animal activists near Parliament today.

Several incidents where dogs had been alleged to have been treated with cruelty by the local council personnel were highlighted at the protest.

The memorandum to Parliament was given because the NGOs were not able to meet the local councils despite many attempts, said an NGO member.
