Parliament: Speaker issues stern warning to MPs to stop using “kafir”, “zionist” terms on each other

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23: Parliament Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul today issued a stern warning to all parliamentarians to stop using words such as zionist and kafir on fellow Members of Parliament.

There were several shouting matches at last week’s Dewan Rakyat sessions, with one MP describing DAP party members as “kafir” while another MP had hurled “zionist” to another MP during during the debate on the 2024 supply bill.

Johari said the words were hurtful, divisive and not conducive at prevailing times.

Explaining that MPs should not be hurling these hurtful and offensive terms on any of the MPs including Non Muslims, he said action will be taken against those who use the words.
