ISLAMABAD, Aug 1 (Bernama-Sputnik) – Thousands of activists gathered for a protest rally in the city of Rawalpindi over the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
The Pakistani Jamaat-e-Islami party took its supporters to the streets, and party leader Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman addressed the demonstrators.
In addition, a decision was announced to declare Aug 3 as Palestine Day.
On Wednesday, Hamas confirmed that Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli attack on his residence in Tehran after he took part in the inauguration of newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
