WGS 2024: Shah Rukh Khan wants to bring technological innovation to Indian film industry

DUBAI, Feb 14: Internationally acclaimed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his desire to use technology to advance innovation in the Indian film business while also using cinematic narrative to instil hope.

Addressing the World Government Summit 2024 here on Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan, an influential figure in the entertainment world, reaffirmed his commitment to technological advancement within the Indian film industry in tandem with his thematic aspirations.

“As the years have gone by, I think the essence of my work has increasingly become motivated towards bringing new technology into the Indian film industry,” he said, highlighting the pivotal role of innovation in shaping the future landscape of cinema.

The Indian actor and film producer further added that despite delving into narratives of sorrow and tragedy in some of his past endeavours, his primary objective remains to infuse an enduring sense of optimism and upliftment into his cinematic creations.

“I know I’ve also made some somber films. I’ve made films that are tragedies. But somewhere along the line, I just hope that I can inspire hope through my films,” he said.

In the session moderated by Richard Quest, a news anchor for CNN International, Shah Rukh Khan reflected on his journey from humble beginnings to iconic stardom.

“I started with the intention just to survive, to be able to work over weeks, months, and years, hoping that my films would do well.

“I want to end my career by making films that are loved by the whole world. I also want my films to be in Arabic so more people can understand them,” said the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ film actor.
