Student Austin Bay Qi Hern highlighted the importance of problem statements, pointing out that clearly defining a problem is the key to unlocking powerful solutions.
He said: โOne key takeaway that stuck with me is the importance of clearly defining your problem statement.
โWhatever project or idea you’re working on, having a well-defined problem statement is crucial. Once you have a clear and concise problem statement, you’re already halfway to completing the project. It’s the foundation that guides your solutions and ensures you’re addressing the right challenges!โ
Another student, Cheng En Chong, emphasised attitude as the differentiator, a reminder that technical skills are vital but that mindset and approach can truly set one apart.
He said: โThere are many factors in Mr Raviโs speech that inspire and shape my future, but what resonated with me the most was his insight that the most important quality in an employee is not skill or experience, but attitude.
โThis lesson has given me greater confidence and reassured me that, even if my current skills are not yet sufficient, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn will enable me to achieve anything I set my mind to. His outstanding speech has provided me with a clearer pathway toward becoming an employee or even an employer.โ
Therefore, a positive attitude helps employees adapt to changes and challenges in the workplace. This is essential in a fast-paced job market where skills and technologies evolve rapidly.
A good attitude also fosters teamwork and collaboration, making it easier to build relationships with colleagues and supervisors, leading to better opportunities and support, and helping individuals bounce back from setbacks and maintain motivation, which is vital for long-term success in any career.
