KUALA LUMPUR, June 19: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called on youths to grab the education and skills development opportunities offered in Malaysia, saying that apart from meeting the current deficiency in human resources in the various sectors, they would be also helping to drive the country’s economic expansion in various areas including upcoming new sectors.

He said this at the launch of the Capital Market Graduate Program held at the Securities Commission building here today.

He also urged companies to consider taking more interns and those undergoing internship, be paid an allowance that would take care of their food and transport expenses. They will understand that this is not salary but an internship programme, he said.

Companies should also provide the needed exposure to their interns including giving them the opportunity to attend events, meet relevant authorities, assemblyman and so on, so that they will learn the ways of businesses during their internship, Anwar said.
